A few weeks ago we went up to Michigan to visit some Hay relatives and enjoy their apple orchards and fresh picked apples. Although Madeline had never been a fan of apples or applesauce, she certainly changed her mind when she tasted them fresh out of the basket!
We had a blast this past weekend at a local pumpkin farm with some good friends. Madeline spent quite a while searching for just the right pumpkin to take home. We played in the corn bin, rode the tractor tricycles, pet the animals at the petting zoo, went through a corn maze, jumped on a trampoline, and took a hayride. What a great fall day!
And a Happy Birthday it was! Madeline loved the balloons, and thought "Happy Birthday" was being sung to her, not me. She beamed! Her first birthday will be a treat.

Fun with watermelon. Our new favorite activity is pulling everything out of the cabinets! We enjoyed a beautiful Sunday morning at the Riverwalk. Pretty flowers, pretty girl, but the sun was too bright so I couldn't get her to look up at me. Enjoying the fountain!
What a patriotic girl! We celebrated by watching the parade downtown Naperville. Madeline and her buddy Aiden had so much fun that they had to take a break from it all.
We took another trip down to Quincy at the end of August to visit Great-Grandma Schmitt again. Madeline has grown up a lot since our last trip down! We enjoyed the train again! Here Madeline reads one of her favorites, Chicka, Chicka, Boom, Boom with Grandpa.
