Family Pics

For the first time since Evelyn was born, we decided to go to church together this morning. Unfortunately, it still takes us forever to get out of the house, so we were 15 minutes late to church and it was standing room only. That was not going to work for a hungry baby and active toddler. So we went to my parents' house for brunch a little early. Since we were all dressed up, we took the opportunity to take a few family photos.

Field Museum

Dan took the day off on Friday, and after a rough week of Madeline having a stomach bug, we enjoyed a wonderful day downtown Chicago at the Field Museum. The weather was 62 degrees and beautiful, and if we didn't have to get home for naps, we would have loved to take a walk along the lake shore too.

One of Madeline's favorite programs on PBS is a cartoon called "Dinosaur Train", so she was thrilled to be able to see all the dinosaur bones.

She really liked pushing the buttons on the exhibits, even though she didn't listen to what it said.

More Smiles

Evelyn is starting to become more engaged in the world, and has a few favorite toys. Here she's sharing some smiles with her turtle. "Tummy Time" is also one of her favorite times to relax and talk to her toys. We love to hear all the sighs and coos that come from her.

Crazy Hair!

Madeline loves playing in the ball pit in our basement, but this is always the result! In fact, the balls get so charged up that even when she dumps them all out on the floor and walks through them, her hair still sticks up. She thinks it's hilarious and always wants to have this "chrazy hair".

Stats

Evelyn's 2 month statistics:
Length- 23" (80th percentile)
Weight- 12 lbs 7 oz (90th percentile)

At the same age, Madeline was 23.5'' and 12 lbs 9 oz. We're used to those 90th percentiles!

Bath Night

Evelyn is 8 weeks old already! Smiles and coos are coming more frequently now, and she has a few favorite toys that she loves to look at and talk to. I feel like she's growing very quickly- she seems a lot heavier now, and definitely longer. Today we had to get out a 6-month outfit because she couldn't extend her legs all the way in the 3-month outfit I had her in. Tomorrow we go to the doctor, so we'll be anxious to see her latest stats and percentages.

As I was giving Evelyn her bath, Madeline walked in wearing her Mr. Potato Head glasses. What a ham! She does love to entertain us and her sister! Whenever Evie cries, Madeline starts singing the ABC song to quiet her down. It often works. She's also talking up a storm, and loves to read Harold and the Purple Crayon to her doll- "One evening, after thinking it over for some time, Harold decided to go for a walk in the moonlight." She's got the first page memorized. :)
